The Journey

Escape

I Got Away But Cannot Escape

He’s all over me

But you can’t see him

I look in the mirror and I see him

I take a shower but I can’t wash him off me

He’s all over me, he’s all over me

You tell me I’m beautiful

All I see is how small my chest is

My nails should be done

He’s all over me, he’s all over me

You tell me I deserve faithfulness

But all I see is his jeep in her driveway at three in the morning

I’m pregnant with his baby

Looking up to her flickering bedroom window knowing they are holding each other

Watching television and doing other things

He’s all over me, he’s all over me

You tell me that I can do better

But all I see is her face

The face of the woman he chose instead and never beat.

You tell me I can make it on my own

But all I hear is how helpless and hopeless I am

All I can do is hope that life will go on without him

He’s all over me, he’s all over me.
